Tony Young

Pianist SInger-Songwriter, Teacher

Tony began playing guitar at the age 6, and piano at 8, started writing his own music at 12 and began classes in meditation at 17.  He got a scholarship to Oxford studying Biology, where he was also lucky enough to work as PA to Stephen Sondheim for a year, on a Musical Theatre Course sponsored by Cameron Mackintosh. He then went on to study an Msc in Education to learn how to communicate these skills with the wider community and now shares his wonderful array of tools with all he meets, who are willing to learn and participate in the journey.

David Wallace

Pianist, Singer-Songwriter, Music & English Teacher

David has taught English, Piano and Singing for over ten years. David got his Music Degree at Perth and then taught English in Asia for two years. David has done a lot of Band and Recording work and is a keen session musician. He also taught singing at the Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre Arts and Singer Station Theatre Group. Part of the reason behind the foundation of Good Vibrations Glasgow is due to his lived experience in having gone through the recovery process and his passion for using music as a method to increase well-being and mental health.

Who We Are

Highly experienced and motivated professionals...

Our social enterprise has only just begun, October 2022, but we have been playing, performing, teaching and writing music since our school days!

Our Mission Statement

Good Vibrations Glasgow is an early-stage social enterprise who provide music lessons, song writing and sound baths to people in recovery.

The organisation was founded in October 2022 to improve people’s mental health and well-being as there is significant body of research showing the power of music for increasing wellbeing and mitigating against the effects of depression and anxiety.

Good vibrations work with marginalised individuals specialising in people who are in recovery providing them with a creative outlet, a way to increase their skill-set and opportunities for personal growth, as well as enhancing their sense of confidence and well-being. Music has been found to be very healing and helpful in bringing people out of themselves and giving them a positive focus.

Although, we are only a couple of months old, we have made good progress. We are already delivering some pilot workshops with local third organisations in Glasgow, have established a website and social media presence, have applied for grant funding and are currently being supported by Community Enterprise to develop our governance and social impact procedures.

On Mondays, Good Vibrations Glasgow bring Piano, Guitar, Singing and Songwriting classes from 1pm. All levels are encouraged to join in. Classes are informative and informal, teaching chords and rhythm for practical musicianship and introducing music reading and Theory for a more rounded learning. We cater to individual needs whether it be a specific song, preparation for an event or just confidence and social skills building.

Wellbeing Choir

Do you just love to sing or feel the need to try something different?

Beginning early this year, David and Tony will be bring a Wellbeing Choir to Glasgow. This is aimed for all in the community who struggle with mental health or have been caught up in isolation. We strive for accessibility and diversity and hope to reach as many in the community who would like to take some time out and just sing.

Recording and Music Production

In the Studio

Through working with community projects, David and Tony will bring the opportunity for participants to record their own songs.

This will give people a look at the creative process and let them express their ideas in finalising their songs. Taking a song from zero to a tangible result is a remarkable feeling, boosting self confidence and learning new skills on the job.

We hope to give as many tools to people with an inspiration for music and songwriting, so that they can become more rounded musicians.
